BATTERS: Stop tinkering! - Part 1: The adds

The official Batter Buyers Guide mantra for April roster management is DO NOT TINKER! Now, of course this doesn't apply when injury strikes or a closer spits the bit and loses the job, but in general it is not advisable for owners to be trolling the waiver wire for veterans off to a hot start in April. It is best to trust the process that led to drafting a roster rather than reacting to the ups and downs of the season's first month. But all too often, owners can't help themselves.

This article is not meant to identify players worth adding—as our stance is clear. As a rule, it does not make sense to even consider adding a player this early in the season—unless there is reason to believe that the player will make a quantifiable...
