It’s no secret that professional baseball has undergone massive changes this century in terms of how players are valued and how best to generate runs. The emphasis on power has resulted in a decrease of high-contact hitters who offer on-base skills rather than over-the-fence power. The resulting acceptance of higher strikeout rates and whiffs has shown that you can still be productive without sustaining even an average contact rate.
