A non-drafted FA in 2009, the 27-year-old Butler has had to prove himself the entire way up the ladder. He’s lauded within the organization for his leadership skills and for how he’s developed his solid game-calling and handling of a pitching staff. Boston added the 5’10”, 210-pound backstop to its 40-man roster before the 2013 season, and he responded with a solid year: .262/.350/.479, 19 2b, 14 HR, 79.1% Ct%, 0.58 Eye in 282 AB.
