Brock Holt (INF, BOS)
The Red Sox recalled the 25-year-old from Triple-A after demoting Jonathan Diaz to the same affiliate. Holt was acquired from the Pirates in an offseason deal in December ’12. The left-handed hitter earned a big league call-up in ’12 and hit .292 in 65 AB with Pittsburgh. He has split the last few seasons between 2B and SS and should get a few starts at 3B for the Red Sox. Holt brings average tools to the table, but maximizes them with his instincts and all-out effort. He focuses on making consistent contact with a short, simple stroke.
