The Rangers recalled the 26-year-old from Triple-A after optioning LHP Robbie Ross to the same level. Edwards has experienced a unique career thus far. He was selected in the 14th round of the 2006 draft by the Cardinals as an outfielder and toiled in the lower minors for five seasons before signing on to play in independent ball in 2011. Exhibiting plus-plus arm strength, he signed a minor league deal with the Rangers as a pitcher in December 2011.
