Earlier this year, we looked at early Change Score risers to help identify which pitchers have changed their pitch mix the most from 2021 through mid-May of 2022. With two months of fresh data since that post, it's time for an update to see who has switched things up during the season, and whether or not it's working.
As a quick refresher, Change Score is the total difference in pitch usage across a pitcher's entire arsenal. For example, if Robbie Ray (pictured) starts throwing a new sinker 30% of the time (spoiler alert: he is!) and throws his four-seamer 30% less to make room for it, his Change Score is 30 + 30 = 60.
