SPECULATOR: Fun with tiny samples, pt 1: Gainers

Despite what you may be reading across the internet this week, it's still too early to start interpreting early-season performances, or projecting hot/cold starts to last all season. If you want confirmation of that, just ask the myriad of people who blew their FAAB budgets on Jose Fernandez after his strong first two outings, only to absorb PQS-DISasters in his next two starts.

Still, this early-season data is just sitting there, begging to be analyzed. And one way to mitigate the risk of over-analyzing that data is to just use it to generate some simple, broad-brush sorts of players, rather than focusing too much on individuals.
