Finding this year's Jack Flaherty

Jack Flaherty was mostly an afterthought in drafts this time last season. With an ADP near 300, the market had grown tired of Flaherty's lengthy injury history, and while he threw 144 IP in 2023—his first season with 100+ since 2019—it came with a brutal 4.99 ERA and 1.58 WHIP.

Our own Kris Olson saw some hope, however, as he penned the following in Flaherty's 2024 Baseball Forecaster player box:

Deadline deal to BAL didn't go as planned, as H%, HR/F conspired to offset reining in of 1st half wildness, and while he dodged IL, did battle hip discomfort, "general soreness." And LHB gave him increasing fits as season wore on. That said, if 2nd half was a step back towards 2021 skill level, sub-4.00 ERA not out of question. But body...

Almost!
