I was at Fenway Park last Sunday afternoon, watching the Red Sox take on the Rays. I've got a partial-season ticket plan that I share with my best friend from high school. The seats are pretty poor: some 350 feet from home plate, oriented to face the Green Monster rather than diamond, and Pesky's Pole comes darn close to impeding our view of the batter's box.
The quality of the seats isn't really important; the tickets are basically an excuse for us to get together every few weeks during the season. On this particular Sunday, the seats had one big advantage: the forecast called for rain, and the seats are (barely) under the overhang.
Since we knew our seats would be dry, we never hesitated in setting out for the ballpark that afternoon....
