PT TOMORROW: NL West—Roster shuffling in SD

We've been skeptical of SD's attempt to put Brandon Maurer (RHP, SD) in the rotation (discussed here and here), and the experiment now appears to be over. Maurer gave up 16 earned runs in just 5.2 innings, so he'll head back to the bullpen where he posted a 3.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 51 innings in 2015. Maurer's 6.9 Dom and 3.83 xERA suggest he won't repeat 2015's success, but he was able to miss plenty of bats (13% SwK), and could find himself in the mix for saves should current stopper Fernando Rodney (RHP, SD) falter.

Maurer's departure from the rotation greatly improves the odds for Colin Rea (RHP, SD) and Robbie Erlin (LHP, SD; pictured) to toe the rubber every fifth day. Erlin has pitched well this spring with...
