We’ve written numerous times in this space about the potential upside of Derek Dietrich (2B/3B/OF, MIA), but he hasn’t been able to establish a firm grip on playing time at either second base or third base. Therefore, it was interesting to see the Marlins give him a shot in left field on July 26, as Phil Hertz noted in a recent Playing Time Today. Dietrich has since manned left field in every game the team has played. There is certainly a vacancy in left field right now while Giancarlo Stanton (OF, MIA) is out and Marcell Ozuna (OF, MIA) is at Triple-A New Orleans. Might Dietrich have finally found a position to call his own?
