With 2019-20 closer Alex Colomé seeking a new contract via free agency (see below); the Pale Hose wasted no time in signing their new closer, Liam Hendriks (RHP, CHW; pictured above), to a three-year deal with a fourth-year option. Hendriks’ combined 2019-20 line with Oakland as a closer (1.79 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 40% K%, 3% BB%) puts him in the upper echelon of late-inning options, and even though the park effects are not kind with the move (a swing of +38% for LH batter HR and 17% for RH batter HR), his career 10% HR/F provides a baseline that should keep him below the league average 15% HR/F.
