NL West: Roupp likely to make Giants rotation

No news is generally good news from spring training sites this time of year. The Giants have had a generally quiet spring. Barring any injuries between now and Opening Day, the lineup and first four spots in the rotation look to be set. But the battle for the fifth spot in the rotation has taken an interesting turn, as RHP Landen Roupp has seemed to overtake LHP Kyle Harrison as the leading candidate for the role. While we hesitate to place too much credence on spring training stats, in this case the combination of spring performance and the fact that Harrison’s fastball velocity is still down from the mid-90s of his prospect days vaults Roupp into the favorite role.
