NL Central: The Reds have a new stopgap

The theme of the Reds season through three months (including spring training) has been attrition among its young bats. We don’t need to run through the entire list of players lost, but at this point it’s enough to say the loss has been substantial. Nick Martini (OF, CIN) provided a brief jolt of production to begin the season, but he’s hit just .119 with a .326 OPS across the last six weeks. In the last week, Jacob Hurtubise (OF, CIN) has emerged as the new contender to benefit from the shorthanded roster and potentially establish himself as a key contributor in the medium to long term for the Reds.
