NL Central: Takeaways from late spring roster moves

A number of factors have come together this spring that will give Garrett Mitchell (OF, MIL) the chance to redeem himself after a lost 2023 season. The first is that the team optioned Joey Wiemer (OF, MIL) to AAA in a roster crunch, instead opting to keep Eric Haase (C/OF, MIL) or Blake Perkins (OF, MIL). If he were to make the roster, Haase would be a third catcher and potentially see some time in the corner outfield. Perkins is likely to start even less than Haase and would likely get the majority of his playing time as a defensive replacement. The next factor is that the Brewers appear intent on following through on their experiment to play Sal Frelick (OF, MIL) at third base.
