NL Central: Pressly joins the Cubs bullpen

The Cubs seem to have pinned their hopes and dreams to Houston resetting their championship core a bit. After adding Kyle Tucker via trade earlier this offseason, they recently bolstered the bullpen by trading for former closer Ryan Pressly.

Pressly saved 111 games for the Astros, but most of those were were from 2019 to 2023. There were rumors that Pressly would only waive his no-trade clause if he had assurances he would close, but the Chicago Sun-Times reported that sources had denied those rumors in their write-up of the trade.

While Pressly should slot into a high-leverage role with the Cubs he'll be competing for the closer role with Porter Hodge. Pressly had posted elite strikeout rates ranging from 35.7% to 31.9%...
