Tampa Bay’s bullpen has been one of the most dominant units in baseball since the All-Star break, combining both elite results (2.28 ERA, 2nd in MLB) and skills (20.7 K-BB%, 2nd in MLB). Closer Pete Fairbanks had been a significant contributor for Tampa Bay’s dominance, compiling a 2.45 ERA backed by a 22.5 K-BB% while recording a team-high six saves entering August 18’s game. However, Fairbanks suffered a lat strain during a blown save in Sunday’s game and now appears headed to the IL, opening up save opportunities.
