Closer Pete Fairbanks had been a significant contributor for Tampa Bay’s dominance, compiling a 2.45 ERA backed by a 22.5 K-BB% while recording a team-high six saves entering August 18’s game. However, Fairbanks suffered a lat strain during a blown save in Sunday’s game and now appears headed to the IL, opening up save opportunities.
