NEWS: Chicago agreed to terms on a 1-year, $6 million contract with 1B Justin Turner.

BHQ SPIN: Chicago added to its infield depth with the addition of Turner. The 40-year-old has slowed down a bit due to age but was still an above-average hitter last season (117 wRC+). Turner, who has mostly started at first base or designated hitter during the last two seasons, is likely to fill a part-time role, predominantly filling in against left-handed starters. His presence in the lineup could limit Michael Busch’s playing time against lefties, though it may not be a strict platoon at first base.
