NEWS: San Francisco announced right-handed pitcher Landen Roupp will be the team’s fifth starter with right-handed pitcher Hayden Birdsong heading to the bullpen.

It came down to a trio of young starters, but with Kyle Harrison optioned to the minors on March 22nd, it became a two-man race. Roupp narrowly edged out Birdsong despite an inferior Spring performance. Roupp recorded a 3.75 ERA (12 IP) and a 30.4% K% across four starts while Birdsong pitched to a 0.75 ERA (12 IP) and a 41.9% K% while issuing no free passes.
