NEWS: Chicago activated INF Jake Burger from the 10-day IL and optioned C Carlos Pérez to Class AAA Charlotte.

BHQ SPIN: Burger will see time at DH while Eloy Jiménez is out and be the backup option at 3B and 1B. The move to option Pérez indicates that C Yasmani Grandal is about to rejoin the team. In 77 PA in 2023, Burger has slashed .224/.312/.612 and added 7 HR. He’s an option for teams looking for a quick power boost while he sees time, but keep in mind he’s a BA drag. We’ve bumped his PT up 15% and taken some away from Pérez and Jiménez while the Sox deal with this short-term logjam. Mgr Pedro Grifol told media that Burger would not be an option at 2B, which leaves that spot...
