Boston loses O'Neill to IL, skips Pivetta in rotation

NEWS: OF Tyler O’Neill was placed on the 10-day injured list with an infection in his lower left leg.

BHQ SPIN: Neither O’Neill nor manager Alex Cora could say whether the issue was related to the stomach bug that had already caused O’Neill to miss four games, but the hope is that he will be able to return after the minimum 10 days. This is the oft-injured O’Neill’s third IL stint of the season. To replace O’Neill on the roster, the Red Sox recalled Enmanuel Valdez, who recently played a game in left field for AAA-Worcester.
