Castillo looks to show his stripes against Tigers

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Fifteen games are scheduled, but Mother Nature may have a say in how many get played. Rain is expected in Cleveland (ARI-CLE), New York (LAA-NYY), and Pittsburgh (SD-PIT). The Matchup Ratings, shaded toward National Leaguers at the top, are thick in the middle. But a handful of hurlers stand out in bold green on this first Tuesday in August.

Notable Starts:

Luis Castillo went six-plus innings in each of five July starts. Castillo clocked a 1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP for the month, albeit with some favorable hit, strand, and GB/f rates. The veteran right-hander draws struggling Detroit (.558 since July 24) for Tuesday's game at home. Castillo's home ERA this season sits at 2.82.
