ROTISSERIE: Dealing with an unbalanced roster

To the extent they have them at all, owners tend to approach their drafts more in one of two camps than the other. They either draft for balance, perhaps trying to hit certain category targets, or they draft for value, taking whatever bargains fall to them.

Those in the latter camp may now find themselves sitting with unbalanced roster. That’s especially true in this, the Year of Billy Hamilton, since the Reds’ speedy center fielder, as expected, is well on his way to rewriting the stolen-base record books—except for the part where he isn’t.

Hamilton’s early season struggles aside, many owners may now be asking themselves how to deal with perceived inefficiencies on their rosters.

A key word in that previous sentence is “perceived.”...
